The School Scoop
This post is all about that most dreaded, or most enjoyable (depending on how you look at it) time of year- school time! School recently started back for all of us teens and here is where you can shout about it. Scroll down and let me know if you dread it or love it. Is there too much homework, or do you like being busy? Is school necessary? why or why not? Shout about it! But first, here are some fun things I've gathered up that realate to it: School.
Stress Relievers For Teens
by Kelly Morris
Get enough sleep. Did you know that many teens are sleep deprived? Experts say that most teenagers need at least nine hours of sleep each night in order to be well-rested and healthy, but only about one in ten actually gets that much. Between school, work, family, extra-curricular activities, and a social life, it's hard to find time for that much sleep. Make an effort, though. It's worth it.
Eat healthy. Junk food (potato chips, candy bars, soft drinks) actually robs you of energy. It gives you an initial rush by increasing your blood sugar quickly, but just as quickly, your blood sugar will drop. You'll feel better and have more energy if you eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water. When you need a little pick-me-up, instead of reaching for a candy bar or a Mountain Dew, try a slice of pizza or some peanut butter crackers. Carbohydrates and protein will work better than sugar and caffeine.
Exercise regularly. If you play sports or take gym class, you may already be getting enough exercise. If not, make an effort to be more physically active. Exercise is a great way to let off steam and reduce stress. When you exercise your brain produces endorphins, which are natural chemicals that make you feel entergized.
Buy and use a daily planner. You'll keep track of all you have to do and won't have to worry about forgetting any important projects. You'll be able to make the best use of your time by planning ahead. Using a planner will also help you focus on the most important stuff.
Stop procrastinating. Putting things off only leads to more stress later. Using a daily planner can help with this.
Make sure to include fun things in your schedule. Put them in your planner along with all the other stuff you have to do.
Schedule quiet time for yourself. Give yourself regular time for relaxing by yourself. Just a few minutes a day will make a difference. This is a great time to read your Bible or pray!

My School
when we were younger, my sister and I went to a private school but when I was in 2nd grade, we started being homeschooled. up until I was in 8th grade, my mom had been teaching us. but my 8th grade year we started something a little different: BJ LINC. Our mom is no longer teaching us- I mean, she keeps up with our grades and my parents will help me if I have questions, but now, we have watch all of our classes live on TV. Its really quite cool! let me clear up some common misconceptions about homeschooling: -we are very active and do many other things with other teens our age. some of those include...
youth/church activities
music groups (SC philharmonic youth, strings, chiors, etc.)
and then we have lots of friends we hang out with and such...
-we aren't totally uneducated- we still have to do tests, quizes, projects, ACT's, SAT's, homework!, end-of-the-year tests (like STANFORD/IOWA...)
acctually, I would consider us quite normal... most of the time... :o)
I am now in my freshman year and I am taking Geometry (my teacher is Dr.Conn), Writing.Grammar/British Lit. (Mrs.Seibert), World History (Mrs. Goins), Physical Science (Mrs. Vick) and mandrin Chinese. :o)
Now, let's Shout! Do you have tips for handeling school? Thoughts about school? Do you love it, hate it? What about your teachers this year? How do you feel about homework? What school do you go to? where would you like to go? what grade are you in this year? would you like me to add something to this page?
